  1. We Work For You

We're not brokers for the insurance companies we represent. We are brokers for our clients. We work for you, not for them. That's a really big distinction you can count on when the chips are down.

You may be able to extend your home policy to cover your home-based business. If not, investing just a little bit in a business policy may help you avoid problems with claims.

  4. General Liability

If your employees use their personal vehicles to perform their jobs, their personal auto insurance is their primary coverage. However, to cover your business for third-party liability claims arising from auto accidents, it’s wise to include Non-Owned Auto coverage on a commercial General Liability Policy.

  5. Corporate Registry

If you own a business but don't file an annual return, your corporation will eventually be struck from the register. That means that your business or organization will be removed from the Alberta Corporation Registries active record.

  6. Company Name

It's your responsibility to ensure that your new business or corporate name doesn't infringe on 3rd party rights, so choose carefully. If the name chosen is the same as, or similar to, an existing business name or trademark, the owners of that company could take your business to court.

  7. Name Change

If you don't like your name, you can legally change it. You'll need to go through a legal process - which we can help you with - and change it to whatever name you choose. If you are changing your name for an improper purpose, such as fraud or to avoid criminal charges or financial obligations, you will receive a fine that ranges from $500 to $2,000 or up to 90 days in jail.

  8. Birth Certificate

The new Alberta birth certificate has numerous visible and concealed security features to help prevent identity theft.

  9. Marriage Certificate

Marriages that are legally performed in foreign countries are usually valid in Canada but not always. If you're going to live in Alberta after your marriage, check with Service Alberta to determine if you require further documentation for your marriage to be legally recognized here.

  10. Fire Fighting Expense Coverage

Fire Fighting Expense Insurance Coverage varies substantially from one company to another. One may include only $3000 in coverage while another might offer unlimited coverage. Make sure you know the limit included on your policy to ensure that it is adequate. While it might cost you a little bit more, it could provide enormous savings in the event of a fire.

  11. Graduated Driver's License

Alberta has a new Graduated Drivers License program designed to improve road safety for all of us. It provides new drivers with the opportunity to gain experience, skills and maturity before graduating to more demanding driving conditions to become safe and responsible drivers. That means safer roads for all of us.
