To insure your vehicle in Alberta, you may be asked to provide proof of your driving history. In Alberta, this is called a Driver Abstract. Other provinces or jurisdictions sometimes call it a Letter of Experience. Your driving record is important when it comes to your auto insurance premiums - especially if you want to get a better rate. Some employers also ask you to provide a Drivers Abstract as a condition of employment.
Driver abstracts can be issued for a period covering the past 3, 5 or 10 years.
What you'll need
- proof of identity
- a Request for Personal Driving and Motor Vehicle Information form
- the specific period of time you are interested in
Once we have this, we can print you a copy of your driver abstract.
