Birth Certificate

Every birth that takes place in Alberta is recorded as a vital statistic.  Written proof of that statistic comes to you in the form of a birth certificate.  For many reasons, it's important to have a copy of your birth certificate, and those of your children.  It is an important piece of identification that you will require for everything from registering for school to obtaining a passport.



What you'll need
All records of Vital Statistics are confidential. That means that Service Alberta won't release this information to just anyone. Strict guidelines are in place to ensure this confidentiality. Depending on the circumstances, you may be required to show proof that you are eligible to submit the application.
